About the role
Windmark builds websites and brand systems that feel alive, and motion is a big part of why. This role owns that motion. You will design and animate the pieces that bring our work to life: scroll and hover interactions on the sites we ship, product UI motion, brand animations, social video, and launch teasers. You will also design the static graphics that sit alongside the motion, so the whole system feels like one hand made it.
This is a craft role with range. Some weeks lean on animation, some on graphic design, and some need both inside the same project. You will work directly with designers, developers, and the founders, taking a flat brief and returning something that moves people. We ship fast, so we want someone who can go from idea to polished frames without a long chain of approvals.
This role is open to full-time or freelance. Tell us which you prefer and we will shape the engagement around it.
What you'll do
- Design and animate brand and product motion: explainer loops, UI micro-interactions, logo and brand animations, and launch teasers.
- Turn static designs into motion built for the web, handing developers clean specs or files they can implement (Lottie, video, or code-friendly references).
- Create short-form video and social content that keeps our channels, and our clients' channels, moving.
- Design the graphics around the motion: social posts, decks, campaign visuals, and case study assets.
- Partner with web designers and developers so animation lifts the experience without hurting performance.
- Hold a consistent motion language across projects, so every piece reads as Windmark.
What we're looking for
- 3+ years designing motion and graphics in a studio, agency, or in-house team, with a reel and portfolio you can show.
- Real range across both crafts: you can animate a sharp brand loop and design the static layout it lives in.
- Fluency in motion tools (After Effects at minimum, bonus for Lottie, Rive, or Cavalry) and design tools (Figma plus the Adobe suite).
- A strong sense of timing, easing, and restraint. You know when motion adds meaning and when it just adds noise.
- Comfort designing motion for the web, with an eye on file size and performance.
- Async-first habits: you write things down, manage your own time, and keep work moving without being chased.
Nice to have
- Experience animating in code or with Webflow interactions and GSAP.
- 3D or Spline skills for product and brand visuals.
- Basic editing and sound design for short-form video.
- Work across different industries rather than a single niche.
